Welcome to Exquisite Stories

Welcome to my fanfiction blog. I enjoy writing stories and, thanks to my sisters, decided to start writing fanfictions. My previous stories had all been originals so City Lights is my first fanfic.

My fanfictions are based on mostly Korean (and possibly Japanese) celebrities. I hope I can gain many readers who can get as much enjoyment reading my stories as I have writing them.

Jin Chul walked slowly along a path in a beautiful park. He felt knots in his stomach thinking about his planned meeting with his best friend. Correction: ex-best friend. He couldn't help feeling nervous about meeting someone for the first time in person after only ever speaking to them online. He sat on a park bench and heaved a deep sigh. He had imagined it much more exciting and happy. That was before he found out that his friend was actually a girl pretending to be a guy. He was still angry about it and planned on yelling at her when he met her.

Jin Chul looked at his watch and glared. She was already eight minutes late. He knew eight minutes wasn't that late but he wanted to keep adding up reasons to be angry at her. He sat stiffly on the bench not taking his eyes off his watch. Counting every minute, every second she was late. He paid no attention to the loud footsteps drawing near and eventually stopping directly in front of him or the sound of a person clearing their throat.

Hee Jin was lying on her back in the middle of her apartment, moaning from the sweltering heat of the afternoon. She had been in Korea for only five days and was already sick of it. She got jetlag the first day and the flu the next two days. Not to mention she was dying from the summer heat and boredom the entire time.

She had sent a message to Jin Chul the day before her arrival in Korea. She met him online a year ago and it wasn't long before they became best friends. She had told him everything about herself and in turn, he did likewise. The only thing she kept from him was her gender. She had originally put on her online profile that she was a male but after she got to know him, she took it off and left it blank. She had meant to switch it to female but chickened out a millisecond before. She felt guilty and stupid but hoped that when she did tell him, their friendship would be strong enough for him to accept it. She was starting to think she was wrong.

In a little café, drinking grape juice and eating the rest of a tuna sandwich from lunchtime sat Jin Chul. He lazily gazed out the window at the sky oblivious to the people outside scrambling here and there either coming from work or from school. He seemed unbothered by the sweltering heat of the day but was rather more distracted than anything. He sighed deeply.

"You know," came a voice next to him, "lately you've been giving off a very gloomy atmosphere. It's making me lose customers. Who wants to come into a depressing café?"

Jin Chul turned to the man wearing an apron. "The reason you have no customers has nothing to do with me. Despite being located in a very busy area of the city, nobody even gives this place a second glance." He looked back out the window and continued, "I'm surprised your café has survived this long."
